As Partner, Founder and CEO of Converge Capital, Jim takes a "hands-on" approach, maneuvering clients through the intricacies of M&As and divestitures. No matter how many phases or people are involved in the process, Jim is present at every step, from start to finish.

Prior to founding Converge Capital, Jim was head of the Boston M&A offices for Updata Capital and Montgomery Securities where his experience as a principal and banker in the business process outsourcing, transaction and payment processing sectors was a key factor in closing over 20 M&A transactions for clients in those sectors, including ACS, Axent Technologies, Computer Associates, Digital Systems International and Maximus. As Director for PricewaterhouseCoopers Securities M&A and private placement group, Jim worked with such clients as Sony, XRT, NCR, TRW and Verizon.

Jim started his banking career with Citicorp Leveraged Capital focusing on providing senior debt for leveraged transactions. While there, he closed transactions ranging from $10 million to over $4 billion in deal value. Prior to investment banking, Jim was the Vice President of Corporate Development for Affiliated Computer Services in Dallas, a leading provider of Business Process Outsourcing services. While at ACS, Jim led the firm's growth through M&A by acquiring companies in the IT Services, BPO, payment processing, infrastructure outsourcing, government IT and document storage areas.

Banking is not Jim's only forte. He is also an attorney. Jim practiced corporate law with Kirkland and Ellis in its Washington, D.C. office and Hale and Dorr in their Boston office. He is a current member of the Massachusetts Bar Association.

As an Adjunct Professor at the Boston University Graduate School of Management, Jim has taught a course on advanced corporate financial strategy. Harriett Flowers brings hard-earned operations experience to the evaluation of business opportunities.  As the founder and former CEO of Dallas-based Innovative Managed Care Systems, Inc. (IMaCS), now a subsidiary of MedAssets (Nasdaq:  “MDAS”) she maintained consistent profitability and growth through all phases of a successful startup company:   from organic growth as a sole proprietor consultant, to Angel funding, to private equity recapitalization, to strategic sale to a public company.

At IMaCS, Harriett developed an in-depth understanding of the Healthcare Revenue Cycle industry.  IMaCS leveraged advances in Internet technology, bringing to market the first true web-based, Software-As-A-Service products for Healthcare Revenue Cycle:

  • Managed Care Revenue Modeling
  • Commercial and Government Programs A/R Accounting
  • Point-of-Service Patient Cost Estimation
  • PPO Claims Administration

More recently, as principal of Enumerist, LLC, Harriett has focused on business models around Web 2.0 technologies.  As The Enumerist, she has advised early-stage startups that utilize Natural Language Processing and Social Networking in novel ways to achieve viable business services delivery.

Much of Harriett’s architectural insight was gained early at UCC (University Computing Company, later acquired by Computer Associates), a company that pioneered selling computer software as a product.  At UCC, she was a key contributor to the design of a “software factory” called the Leading Edge Applications Project (LEAP).

She has held senior positions at Hadson Corporation (oil and gas), Price Waterhouse (tax accounting), and at Hogan Systems (integrated banking software).  Throughout her career, Harriett has demonstrated a track record of recognizing and creating profitable business models around Information Technology.  Harriett architected and managed (and in the early years wrote the code for!) imaginative, successful software solutions for a variety of industries:

  • Academic Registration and Transcript Reporting
  • Data Center Reports Distribution and Tracking
  • Business Bankruptcy Payment Distribution and Debtor Management
  • Propane Gas Market Deal Analysis and Transaction Accounting
  • Retail Bank Sales Tools
  • Master Limited Partnership Transaction Tax Reporting

Harriett received a Bachelor of Science, Cum Laude, in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Dallas.
